Light Requirements
Elaeagnus 'Maryline' flourishes best in full sun to partial shade. Ideally, it should receive at least six hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and blooming. In shadier conditions, the growth may be slower, and the variegation may not be as vibrant.

Elaeagnus 'Maryline' prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. Amending the soil with organic matter, such as compost, can improve drainage and provide essential nutrients.

Care and Maintenance Tips
Caring for your Elaeagnus 'Maryline' is relatively simple, as it requires minimal maintenance while providing maximum beauty in your garden. Here are essential care tips:
Maintenance Points
-
Watering: Water thoroughly after planting to help establish the root system. During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist. Once established, Elaeagnus 'Maryline' is drought-tolerant and needs minimal watering during dry spells.
-
Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the shrub to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. As the mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil and supports healthy growth.
-
Fertilizing: Typically, Elaeagnus 'Maryline' does not require frequent fertilization, as it can thrive in nutrient-poor soils. If desired, a balanced, slow-release fertilizer can be applied in early spring to promote vigorous growth and flowering.
-
Pruning: Light pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain the shrub's shape and encourages bushier growth. Remove any dead or damaged branches to promote overall health. For those using it as a hedge, more frequent trimming can help achieve a tidy appearance.
-
Pest and Disease Management: Elaeagnus 'Maryline' is relatively resistant to pests and diseases. However, monitoring for aphids or spider mites is advisable. If infestations occur, treat them with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Ensuring good airflow around the plant can also prevent fungal diseases.
