- Soil Type: Grows best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil. It can tolerate a range of soil types, from sandy to loamy.
- Soil pH: Prefers neutral to slightly acidic soil.
- Planting Depth: Plant with the crown at soil level, ensuring the roots are well-covered.
- Spacing: Space plants about 30–45 cm apart for adequate air circulation and room to spread.
Watering and Fertilization
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the plant’s establishment period. Avoid waterlogging.
- Drought Tolerance: Once established, Imperata cylindrica is relatively drought-tolerant, but regular watering enhances growth and color.
- Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth and vibrant color.
