Planting Guidelines
- Best Time to Plant:
- Plant in autumn or early spring when the soil is moist but not frozen.
- Spacing:
- Space plants 1-1.5 metres apart to allow for good air circulation.
- Planting Depth:
- Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and mix in compost before planting.

Watering and Fertilizing
- Watering:
- Water regularly, especially in dry periods or during fruit development.
- Ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged.
- Fertilizing:
- Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage strong growth.
- A second feed after flowering will help increase fruit production.
- Organic matter, such as well-rotted compost or manure, is beneficial for long-term soil health.
Pruning and Maintenance
- Pruning Time:
- Prune in late winter to early spring, before new growth starts.
- How to Prune:
- Remove any dead, damaged, or overcrowded branches to encourage airflow.
- Cut back old wood to stimulate new growth and higher fruit yields.
- Maintain an open-centre shape to allow sunlight to reach all parts of the plant.
- General Maintenance:
- Keep the base weed-free to prevent competition for nutrients.
- Provide support if the branches become heavy with fruit.
