Five would-be garden designers will get their chance to shine this year as RTE gears up for a 10th series of Super Gardens.
The TV makeover show matches five green-fingered design wannabes with five gardens in need of a makeover. Each garden designer has four weeks and a budget of €5000
The best garden is recreated as a show garden featuring alongside the creations from the top designers in Ireland at Bloom 2018, where the flower show’s 100,000 visitors will get to see it for themselves.
The stakes are high, as winners of Super Garden regularly win medals at Bloom, including last year’s winner Des Kingston who was awarded a Silver Medal for his garden Rustica Hibernia (‘Rural Ireland’). Many go on to highly successful careers in garden design: among previous winners is Leonie Cornelius, one of Ireland’s best-known garden writers and designers, winner of Gold and Best in Show for her Super Garden design at Bloom 2012 and now a Super Garden judge in her own right.
Entry for garden designers is now closed but if you have a garden that could do with a makeover, the company is still interested in hearing from you: applications from garden owners close on 1 March. Email [email protected] for more details.
Alternatively, of course, you can give your garden your own makeover with a little help from us down at the garden centre here in Co. Limerick! Start by measuring up your garden and sketching out your plans: it can help to look through garden magazines to find pictures of the style you want to create. Whether you want to put up a new fence, replant a border or revamp your whole outdoor space you can bring your ideas in to us: we’ll be happy to help you create your very own show garden right outside your back door!
